1W 2019 - 2020

Miss Wortley

Welcome to 1W's homepage!

What a year it has been so far!

We have been extremely busy exploring new learning and challenging ourselves in different aspects of our curriculum. We have become more independent and resilient learners!

As mathematicians, we have enjoyed solving tricky addition and subtraction problems using a variety of methods. As scientists, we have observed seasonal change as we move from autumn to winter and investigated materials and their properties. As authors, we have retold ‘Hermelin’ by 'Mini Grey', adding our own exciting twist to the story. We also created a detailed guide to the moon, to persuade people to visit. We magpied new and interesting vocabulary to use in our writing. In geography, we used atlases to locate the different continents. As historians, we have discovered more about Kings and Queens, the Magna Carter and the role of Parliament and the Prime Minister.

As you can see, we have been busy. All this and much more!

We are now into our final Summer Term... However it is a little different this time around as we are all keeping safe by staying home and learning in our kitchens and living rooms. Mrs Chapman and I are really missing the superstars of 1W but we are very impressed with all of their fantastic home learning.

We have been blown away by the imaginative writing, challenging problem solving, adventurous outdoor learning and excellent reading that you have all been enjoying at home. Keep it up!

We would love to hear more about how you are challenging yourself at home with your learning so please keep emailing in your pictures. We will keep sharing your successes on the school website so keep your eye on our class page and the school gallery.

Thank you for all your support, especially during this time.

Stay safe
