Safer Internet Day in 1G

Lesson: Information and communication technology

Tuesday the 9th of February was Safer Internet Day. In Year 1 we have been thinking about how we can be safe on the Internet. We talked about the importance of telling someone we know if anything appears on our screens whilst we are on the Internet because we don't know what it could be or lead to. To help us and others we designed a poster explaining how we can be safe online; and learnt a catchy song!

Later on we enjoyed reading the story 'Chicken Clicking,' by Jeanne Willis and Tony Ross which highlighted the dangers of chatting to strangers on line and meeting up with them. There were a lot of gasps from the children as Chick did all the wrong things; it was great to hear they have taken the important message from today. The children worked together on the My Story iPad app to create their own ebook of Chicken Clicking by drawing their pictures and recording themselves telling the story.
