The Smartest Giant in Town!

To celebrate world book day, children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 were mixed across the key stage to explore 3 different texts written by Julia Donaldson. One of those texts was The Smartest Giant in Town.

There were lots of different items hidden outside on the playground. These items belonged to the giant. After a quick treasure hunt, we soon realised our learning was going to be based around the story, The Smartest Giant in Town.
We read the story using character voices and expression. We then went back outside to describe the giant's belongings. We had to uplevel the adjective 'smart'. So instead of 'smart tie', 'smart shoes' and 'smart shirt' we came up with 'colourful shirt', 'comfortable shoes' and 'long delicate tie'.

We worked well with a learning partner from another year group to share ideas and help out with spelling.

Have a look at the pictures below to see all the action from today's Smartest Giant session.
