All about our Governors

All about our Board of Governors:

Darren Budd - Chair of Governors

Darren has been a Governor at Lacey Green since 2007 during which time two of his three children have attended the school. Darren has had previous experience as a Governor at another Primary School in Berkshire and put himself forward as a parent Governor as he wanted to support the school that his children were attending. Darren works as the Commercial Director of BASF Plc, he studied Chemistry at University and has worked in the Chemical Industry all of his career. Before moving to Wilmslow, his family lived in Germany for 5 years and it was a big change to come back to the UK. The school system in Germany is different to that in the UK although it provided a good experience for my children’s education.

Mike Neal has been a co-opted Governor since 2018. He is married with 4 grown up children. Mike has had a long career in financial management including  many years as Chief Financial Officer of Granada Group’s TV Rental and Computer Services Division so it is no surprise that he is a member of the school Finance Committee. Mike has been a Governor at a number of Primary and Secondary schools mostly in the Bedford area where he lived for many years.

Adam Taher - Parent Governor

Adam started his role as a parent governor in November 2019 and has a son at Lacey Green. His background is in secondary mainstream education and works in a Pastoral Role in which he manages the day to day running of Year 8 ensuring their welfare is supported and that they are supported with issues such as attendance, behaviour, emotional well being, mental health and safeguarding. Adam’s main area of expertise is in the safeguarding field where he supports children and their families in partnership with the Local Authority.

He is trained in several key areas of safeguarding and in identifying and responding to mental health in young people. His background is sport based, that sport being rugby and he has represented his county at both codes. He enjoyed 20+ years of being involved in a number of rugby clubs in different capacities and is now a playing member of Wilmslow RUFC.

Adam moved to Wilmslow from North Manchester around 7 years ago where he settled with his family and feels that he can use his skill set within his role  as parent governor to contribute to the outstanding reputation that Lacey Green Primary Academy has.

Rebecca Petrondas - Parent Governor

Rebecca is married with 3 sons, 1 of which currently at Lacey Green.  Rebecca spent 3 successful years on the PTA Committee as Secretary and was responsible for successfully creating some new fundraising ideas and initiatives and for bringing a great energy and enthusiasm to the team.  She was elected as a Parent Governor in 2019.

Rebecca has worked as an Executive PA to Director at Siemens Plc for the last 13 years.  She possesses strong organisational skills with a wealth of experience in marketing, travel, communications, project management, customer satisfaction and a huge passion and proven track record in event organisation/management.

In her spare time (not that there’s much of that with 3 demanding boys!) she enjoys socialising, helping at various groups, playing the piano, spending time with family and friends and generally keeping busy.

Rebecca has a willingness to help, a desire to learn new skills and a keen eye for detail.  These attributes alongside her work experience are sure to hold her in good stead to be an active member of the governing board, a role she is very much looking forward to undertaking.

Mark Kelly - Co-opted Governor

Mark joined the governing body in November 2022. He lives locally to the school with his wife and two daughters, both of whom attend Lacey Green Primary Academy. Mark has over 15 years’ experience working as a Chartered Accountant across several industries ranging from Financial Services through to Travel. He currently heads up one of the finance teams at Manchester Airport and so his experience has led him to be on the schools’ finance committee. Mark has also been a Governor at Cheadle Hulme High School (part of the Laurus Trust) since 2019.

Rosie Seddon - Co-opted Governor

Rosie started as governor at Lacey Green in March 2023. She studied English Language at the University of Manchester, graduating in 2007. After university, Rosie initially worked as a journalist in Lincolnshire before moving into communications and public relations. She’s worked for a number of local authorities, the Electoral Commission and as a ministerial press secretary at a government department.

She is now Head of Communications at Homes England, the government’s housing agency, and lives in Wilmslow with her husband and two pre-school children.
