The children in Class 5JM have been studying recounts and used the app Bike Baron as a stimulus for writing. They initially played the game on i-pads and recorded their initial reactions and experiences within the game as well as saving a number of screen shots of it as they explored the game. Following this, they were asked to then uplevel the vocabulary, using the Dictionary  App, they had initially created. These uplevelled words were placed and rated within a Tag Cloud. After this, the children were asked to draft out their first version of 'The day I jumped the ramp'. 

Further work was undertaken by looking at improving the childrens' sentence openers including ' ing ' and 'ly'  verbs and adverbs. Next, the class paired up and redrafted their initial recounts incorporating the openers and the better parts of their first draft.

Subsequently, the pupils then inserted their screen shots of 'Bike Baron' into i-movie and then used their redrafted sentences as a voice-over.
