Class 4J - Science -Solids, liquids and gases

Lesson: Science

Class 4J -Science -Solids, liquids and gases

Today the pupils in Class 4J began their unit of work on Materials: Solids, Liquids and Gases. They began by discussing together what materials and objects around us are made of. This led to up to the introduction of the word ‘particle’. They discussed what was in three balloons - frozen water, water and gas and what they thought was happening to each of the particles within these three states of matter. The children, following an introduction to the particles within each, were asked to create a small mini dramatic version of these outside in the playground. Solid particles had to be very close together and moving slowly, liquids had to remain in close contact but move around more, and gases were expected to move quickly and randomly.
