CLASS 5J - Design Technology Week - Crane Challenge

During the second half of Design Technology Week, the pupils learned about pulleys and how these are used in real life. They help to distribute the force needed to pull an object that weighs less. This mechanism is used in the final DT challenge : to build a simple crane that could lift a heavy object. The class worked in partners which meant they had to show good team skills.

After lots of discussion, accurate measuring, cutting and assembly, the children constructed their crane.

On Friday morning, 4 children from Class 5J joined Class 5T in presenting the week’s work to the rest of  the children in school in our Design Technology Showcase.

Class 5J pupils had a very enjoyable week and were incredibly proud of their models.
