Making a Lighthouse

Lesson: Design and technology

Class 4 have been very busy making lighthouses this week in a DT project linked to both our topic of 'Light and Dark' and our Literacy on 'The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch'. We discussed what lighthouses look like, where they are found and why most have bold stripes. The children decorated their bottles in their chosen stripes. Once they had dried we explored how to make a circuit using a battery, bulb and two wires. The class really enjoyed connecting them to see their bulb light up, we then added these to our lighthouses.

Here are some pictures of the process and the finished lighthouses (more pictures will be added to this post in the coming days!)
