The Lion in Paris - Class 4J Literacy

Lesson: English

Literacy -Class 4J

This week the Year 4 pupils have begun predicting and discussing talking points around a new Literacy text, The Lion in Paris written by Beatrice Alemagne. The children started their unit of work by matching up well known lions from fiction and non-fiction texts. Following this, the children used the front cover of the book to make predictions about what the story might be about. They then went on to look at European national flags , countries and capitals as well as and the location of Paris within the continent itself. Subsequent work was undertaken to brainstorm what the children knew about Paris and any famous landmarks they were aware of. Next week the children will begin to use parts of the story to retell their versions of events.
