Week of Inspirational Maths (or Math)!

All this week in Year 5, we are undertaking a WEEK OF INSPIRATIONAL MATHS!  This is a week of activities dreamt up by Stanford University in California, one of the leading universities in the world. It is making us all think about maths (or math as the Americans say) in a different way with lots of problem solving and looking at patterns between numbers. The message from the week that we want everyone to take on board is that anyone can do maths and that investigating, trying, discussing are all really important aspects to getting better and better. 

Here are some images from the first two days. Ask the children to explain Four Fours and see how you get on!  They can also show you a fabulous number representation showing factors, prime factors and prime numbers.
