Welcome to the Summer Term in Year 4 

I hope that you have all managed to have a good Easter break together with your family and that you have all managed to keep yourselves safe at this difficult time. Hopefully you were able to get out and enjoy the fabulous weather we have been having.

I would like to thank you all for the fabulous pieces of home learning work and photographs you have sent us since the start of the school closure. I greatly appreciate your support with helping to continue your child’s learning and understand that this is difficult when also trying to juggle work and family routines etc.

I will be sending out daily emails during the week listing suggested activities, resources and tasks that will help your child(ren) continue their learning journey.

During the first couple of weeks of lockdown, Mr Jenkins, Mr Myers and I plan to cover a range of subjects and topics which will include the following:

Maths – Daily sessions for the next 3 weeks

Week 1 – Introduction to Decimals - tenths

Week 2 – Decimals - hundredths

Week 3 – Decimals – compare and order

English – Daily sessions for the next 3 weeks

• Week 1 – Grammar , Comprehension, Spelling and  Immersion Activities linked to the model Fiction Text – ‘The  King of the Fishes’

• Week 2 –Structure, Plot and Planning fiction writing

• Week 3 - Writing paragraphs linked to the model text ‘ The King of Fishes’

Science – Animals including humans / Living things and their habitats

Computing/PSHE – Staying Safe Online  -Online Usage and Privacy

History – The Romans –Historical sources

GeographyIntroduction to Europe

RE – Judaism – Rites of Passage

MFL – Days of the Week

Please feel free to contact me on the class email ( 4J@laceygreen.cheshire.sch.uk ) if you have any questions, or need any support in helping your child(ren). I fully appreciate your efforts at home in making this the very best learning experience possible for your child.

Parents are encouraged to send in any completed Home Learning activities and photographs of your child’s work that you would like to share – I have enjoyed seeing what your child has been up to. Learning comes in many shapes and sizes!
