4J Testing Musical Instruments

To start off our new Science topic about sound Year 4 have been using instruments to investigate vibrations. They tested a range of instruments to discover which part of the instrument vibrated to make the sound. They found out that even though the instruments can be played in different ways they all make sounds by vibrating a part of them. It was a very noisy but fun investigation!
We also looked at how we can see vibrations using a tuning fork and touching it to the surface of some water. We found out that thevibrations from the tuning fork were transferred to the water making it splash.
