No Outsiders - No Way Back Home

This week, in Personal Development, the children enjoying reading and discussing the storybook 'No Way Back Home' written by Oliver Jeffers. We discussed the main character's problem and situation and considers whether language is a barrier.

The children were given a task to order themselves, as a class, according to their birth month. The main rule set was that the children were not allowed to talk during the activity.Afterwards, we discussed the strategies the children used to communicate and also how difficult the task was to complete without being able to talk. We then reflected on how it must feel for children who do not speak English who arrive in an English speaking school.
