Word Treasure Hunt

To celebrate the European Day of Languages which takes place next Tuesday Year 6 did a treasure hunt to find words which are used in English but have been "borrowed" from other languages. They had great fun inside the classroom and outside on the playground matching words to their definitions. There were some very surprising origins of the words! 

The European Day of Languages was set up in 2001 by the European council to celebrate language learning and linguistic diversity. This year we will be celebrating in a variety of lessons culminating in our singing assembly on Tuesday 26th September.
