Year 6 Science - Light - Making Shadows

Lesson: Science

Class: 6B Year: 2023 - 2024

Year 6 took advantage of the recent fine weather to investigate shadows.

They measured the length of the shadow created when an opaque object (a Year 6 child) blocked a light source (the Sun) at different times during the day.

They discussed how light can only travel in a straight line and how the position of the Sun in the sky affected the shadow created.

It also gave the children an opportunity to discuss measuring using centimetres and metres and the 24-hour clock.
