DT Week in 2W

Lesson: Design and technology

As you will have guessed from the buzz around Year 2 this week, it's DT Week and we are making purses. First we researched existing products and discussed the different design and structure. Our purses needed to be sturdy to hold valuables so it was important to explore different existing products.

Then we practised a running stitch, to see if we could still remember how to do it from Year 1. And.. we could! We were very confident with a running stitch. Next it was time to map out some ideas and decide on a final design.

Once we were happy with our final design, we turned our idea into a reality. We used felt, a needle and thread to sew our purses. Some of us even challenged ourselves to use a thinner thread. It certainly was a challenge but we persevered. 

Once our purses were complete, we then reflected and evaluated. We gave feedback to our partner too. We thought about what we liked about our purses and what we would improve for next time. 

What a week! Well done 2W!
