Lesson: Design and technology

Class: 2R Year: 2023 - 2024

This week has been DT week and Year 2's project has been to create a winter-themed snowglobe. 

First, we practised some of our previous skills such as modelling from clay and sewing. We looked at the work from Peter Lord and David Sproxton, who created the Morph figurine and Stop Motion Animation. Year 2 loved the clips and were inspired to plan their own figures for their winter snow globes. 

Next, we practised making different shapes with clay to help prepare us for moulding the correct shapes we needed for our designs. 

Once we had planned and discussed our designs, we began making our figures using coloured clay. We had to make sure that they were the correct size to fit on our jar lids and that they were sturdy enough to stay on! Using recycled jars, we added glycerine, sparkles and water to achieve our desired effect.
