An introduction to Hinduism

Class: 5Z Year: 2025 - 2026

We kicked off RE week with a debate about vegetarianism versus non-vegetarianism where the children researched both sides of the argument and the pros and cons of each. Next, we learnt about the Puja Tray where the children identified why each artefact is offered. For example, Hindus offer food at the shrine to be blessed and they burn incense to cleanse the room. We even burned some incense outside for us to smell! Our next lesson was learning about the Mandirs- the Hindu place of worship. We drew our own and used the five senses to describe what’s inside. We tried out some Hindu dancing too! On Friday, we were lucky enough to have a visitor in school to talk to us more about Hinduism and Diwali!
