DT week in 5Z

Lesson: Design and technology

Class: 5Z Year: 2025 - 2026

The children had a fabulous DT week. They researched the brand Steiff to learn about the history of the teddy bear, then investigated some of their own Christmas toys and cushions, analysing the materials they were made from and why they liked each element. They then practiced their sewing skills- seeing what they remembered of running stitch and cross stitch and then learning how to use blanket stitch. From there, the children had time to design their Christmas gonks and decide what embellishments they wanted to include. And then, to create! They did such a brilliant job- we were all really proud and impressed with what they managed to create! I also put a few children to the task of being chief photographer and I have to say, they did great! Well done everyone!
