Planning and designing our puppets

Lesson: Design and technology

Today we started to plan and design our own puppets.  The children thought carefully about what they wanted their puppet to look like, what materials they would need to make it and how to make it look realistic.  After choosing and making any changes to their final design, they made a mock up of their puppet onto paper so they could see what it would look like before they made it with felt.  Our final task of the day was to investigate the most effective way of joining materials - we found out that the best way to join the felt for our puppets would be to sew it with a needle and thread.
