Comparing numbers

Class: 1L Year: 2025 - 2026

This week in Year 1, the children have been building their number knowledge by exploring one more and one less. They have been practising recognising what happens to a number when we add one or take one away, using practical resources to deepen their understanding. Alongside this, the children have also been learning how to compare numbers.  Through hands-on activities, partner games, and class challenges, the children are becoming more confident in ordering numbers and explaining their thinking. It’s been wonderful to see their enthusiasm and growing independence in maths!
